How To Find Construction Jobs Overseas
Looking for construction work is the easiest way to get a set with a job abroad. If you have some construction skills to offer, in management or as a trader, you are only a plane ticket away from a new life. Living abroad is a wonderful experience and I encourage you to pursue interests with the help of the steps laid.
Do not start by visiting websites that post job listings abroad. First, decide where you want to go and then started to research the country that at the macro level (economic & social issues) and then to the micro level (company to contact).
Consider economic factors. Currently, many countries facing financial crises and their shrinking job market, especially in construction. However, other countries are doing quite well and construction is booming. For example, the countries of South America some enjoy the GNP growth rate of 5% this year and extensive housing construction. UK, while currently ailing economy, will soon begin to initiate development projects heavily to the 2012 Olympics. Write a list of countries where prospects and THEN start your research.
Consider social factors. Language, climate, exchange rates, cultural, health, dating life and safety. For example, find out how women and men date in this country. In Chile, the men and women do not really date. In general, there is marriage and infidelity. Health care is also very important. Some countries offer great benefits for people who work for free while others will not. You get where I am going with this, do you due diligence.
Fri After you serious, you should save and travel to the country of your focus. Side stepping this, to me, is like buying real estate website that is not visible. It is not responsible. In addition to getting feel for the country, customs and people, you will be able to see the construction site, get the name of the company and arrange an interview.
Bring a professional resume and a list of all your project experience and skills. Try to stay on one page.
To evaluate the company. When I was traveling through New Zealand to consider the companies to work, “Infrastructure” is hiring. I have a chance to see them in action around the country while I was on tour. I see their equipment, their people, their methods and I can make decisions that are very comfortable. Before I went to visit them, I found their names through search on the web. Of course, my vision on the company based snippits found online is a big contrast to my experience with them in this country.
Go back to the house and clean up your affairs in order. It can take several months to get ready to move your life onto the sea, even if you are single. Manage your worker visas, sorting things for Goodwill, selling goods from the garage, consolidation of goods for storage and shipment out what you need is a process. Longer for some than others. It depends on how transient life you have or have not. The point is that you need to plan for your departure and take a lot of action.
You’ll make fast friends working in this industry abroad. If you end up not enjoying the company you choose, you are a home is always the head (no big deal) or very easy to get a job now that you live in this country, has a temporary visa and contacts.
